ARTIST STATEMENT
Working across mixed media, sculpture, and installation, I express the intersecting layers of identity, power, and survival. As a gay Honduran-American artist, I have witnessed firsthand the violence and erasure that comes with being different in a society resistant to change. My art explores the queer human condition - it’s physical, psychological, and spiritual dimensions - through both religious and secular lenses. I do not condemn religion but critique how it is weaponized to justify hatred.
By recontextualizing religious iconography, I reveal the trauma inflicted by those who use faith as a tool for cruelty. My work creates space for healing and understanding, challenging the narratives that divide us and inviting connections in a world that demands we hide who we are.
